Browser extension
Save jobs and fill forms without leaving the page
Most of a job hunt happens on other people's websites. The extension brings CareerUp there — save a posting straight into your pipeline, and fill an application form from the resume you already uploaded.

Not on the Chrome Web Store — this is a hackathon project, so it installs in developer mode. Firefox and Safari are not supported.
Installing it
Download and unzip
Save the archive below and extract it somewhere you will not delete by accident — Chrome loads it from that folder every time it starts.
Open chrome://extensions
Paste that into your address bar, then turn on Developer mode with the toggle in the top right.
Load unpacked
Click "Load unpacked" and select the folder you just extracted. CareerUp appears in your toolbar.
Sign in once
Click the icon and sign in with the same account you use here. Your session is stored in the extension, not on the pages you visit.
What it does
Save any posting
On a job page, one click creates a prep space with the title, company, description and a match score already computed. Works on LinkedIn, Indeed and anything publishing standard job markup.
Autofill real forms
Fills name, email, phone, links, skills and your cover letter from the resume CareerUp already parsed. It matches fields by label, name, id and placeholder — not by hard-coded site rules.
Careful by default
Never overwrites a field you have already typed into, skips readonly and hidden fields, and never drops a long cover letter into a single-line input. Filled fields flash green so you can see exactly what changed.
What it can and cannot see
- It reads a page only when you click it. There is no background scraping and no traffic while you browse.
- Your session stays out of reach of websites. The token lives in the extension's own storage and is read only by its background worker — a job board's JavaScript cannot get to it.
- Autofill runs locally. The form you are filling is never sent anywhere; only your saved profile comes down from CareerUp.
- It never submits for you. Fields are filled, and you review and submit yourself.

Managing it
Point it at a deployed API. It defaults to http://localhost:8000/api. Open the extension's service worker console from chrome://extensions and run:
chrome.storage.local.set({ apiUrl: 'https://your-api.onrender.com/api' })Update. Download again, replace the folder's contents, then hit reload on the extension card.
Sign out or remove. Sign out from the popup to clear the stored token, or remove the extension from chrome://extensions — which deletes its storage entirely.
