Terms of Use

Last updated 29 August 2026

CareerUp is a student project built for the HackHorizon Hackathon 2026. It is not a commercial service, carries no warranty, and may be taken offline at any time. Do not rely on it as your only record of a job search.

1. What CareerUp does

CareerUp helps you find job postings, tailor applications to them, practise interviews and track where each application has got to. It aggregates listings from public job boards and from a clearly-labelled sample dataset, and uses AI models to draft text and explain results.

2. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you upload and for keeping your password to yourself. Do not upload another person's resume or personal details. One account is for one person.

3. AI-generated content

Cover letters, resume bullet suggestions, interview questions, course recommendations and written summaries are produced by AI models. They can be wrong, out of date, or overstated. Match scores and analytics are calculated arithmetically rather than generated, but they are still estimates.

Everything you send to an employer goes out under your name. Read it in full and correct it before you send it. You are responsible for what you submit — CareerUp is not.

4. Job listings

Listings come from third-party job boards and from a sample dataset that is labelled as such wherever it appears. We do not verify employers, salaries, or whether a role is still open. Apply through the original posting and treat anything unusual — upfront fees, requests for bank details — as a warning sign.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use CareerUp to:

  • submit applications you have not read, at volume
  • misrepresent your experience, qualifications or identity
  • upload anyone else's personal data without their consent
  • scrape, resell or redistribute listings obtained through the service
  • attempt to access another user's account or data

6. Availability

The service depends on third-party APIs — job boards, AI providers, Google Trends — which have rate limits and outages. Features that need them will tell you when they are unavailable rather than showing you substitute content. There is no uptime guarantee.

7. Your data

See the Privacy Policy for what is stored and how to remove it. You can delete any prep space from the dashboard, and request account deletion at any time.

8. Liability

CareerUp is provided as-is. We are not liable for a job you did not get, an application containing an error you did not catch, a listing that turned out to be inaccurate, or data lost during the project's lifetime.

9. Changes

These terms may change as the project develops. The date at the top reflects the current version.
